RELEASE STORY
My first “business” as a young boy was not a lemonade stand but selling Victoria plums and Pippin apples to people in our village. Ripe, sweet and delicious orchard fruits synonymous with the end of Summer coupled with fond memories of sitting with my grandfather harvesting our barley.
The first time we experimented distilling barley and tasting plum and apple wood, it took me straight back to those memories and I became giddy at the thought of creating a release celebrating Orchards & harvest.
We selected English regenerative pale malt Barley from Muntons down the road in Suffolk as our base distillate for its wonderful raisin and biscuit character. Plum wood from a family with orchards in Wales, Apple wood from the iconic orchards of Worcestershire and cherry wood from our own wild cherry trees which we smoked using cherry wood itself.
Sylva Orchard’s fruit and gentle smoke forward profile embodies a sense of time and place celebrating hazy days and harvest. Easy over ice, vibrant long with soda or indulgent in a Manhattan or Old fashioned style cocktail.

INGREDIENTS NOTES
TASTING NOTES
On the nose
A vibrant orchard opens up with ripe red cherries, stewed plums, and crisp apple peel drifting gently with a soft, sweet smoke. Beneath the fruit, there’s warm notes of toasted malt, biscuit and vanilla, with hints of Bakewell tart.
The palate is
Lush and layered: juicy stone fruits lead the way into velvety malt and subtle caramel. Mid-palate, the influence of apple and plum wood emerges with a mellow, almost honeyed warmth, while cherrywood adds a marzipan and nougat character. A whisper of smoke threads through it all, never overpowering, but adding depth and elegance.
The finish is
Smooth and long, with a final flourish of dark berries, cherry blossom and comforting smoke.
